Political analyst Na'eem Jeenah has warned that actions perpetrated by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman could have triggered the beginning of the end for the kingdom's royal family.
The most recent crackdown in which senior royal family members such as Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, the King's last living full brother, has led to speculation that this may be the crown prince's latest effort to consolidate control of all major levers of power inside the kingdom.
"This is the beginning of the implosion of the Saudi royal family; not because of forces from the outside, but forces from within," said Jeenah, who is the Executive Director of AMEC. Jeenah added that he believed that infighting and divisions within the royal family will cause the end of the family's rule over the Kingdom in which it has reigned since the the early 20th century. "I think this is how the Saudi royal family will end: it will implode from within [through] divisions and infighting."
